The Woman Writer on Film and the #MeToo Literary Biopic

Abstract This article focuses on the representation of female authors’ lives in English-language literary biopics and how these representations relate to feminist contexts. Departing from previous research focusing women (particularly writers), this identifies four categories such films: patriarchal biopic, which an author’s life is related values, second-wave feminism, postfeminist postfeminism, finally #MeToo a new category films that has recently begun emerge. By analyzing Colette (Wash Westmoreland, 2018) Wild Nights with Emily (Madeleine Olnek, 2019), shows correspond movement.
